Target Species
Rainbow Trout
Rainbow trout raised in the pristine waters of Hokkaido are famous for their powerful runs and exciting fights.
The best season for rainbow trout is from June through early July and again from late August to early October.
The Nayoro, Bifuka, and Otoineppu areas offer some of the best fishing opportunities.
Japanese Huchen (Ito)
The Japanese Huchen, known locally as Ito, is Hokkaido's legendary freshwater fish and one of Japan's most sought-after game fish.
For many anglers, catching an Ito is a once-in-a-lifetime achievement.
The best season is from late September through late November.
The Nakagawa area is particularly well known for producing excellent Ito fishing.
White-spotted Char
As temperatures drop in autumn, White-spotted Char migrate upstream from the sea into the Teshio River to feed on salmon eggs.
Autumn is the best season to target these beautiful native char as they become active during the salmon spawning season.

Guests must be at least 18 years old and physically able to enjoy a full day on the river.
Guests under the age of 18 are welcome when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Tour Duration
Approximately 8 hours from meeting to the end of the tour (approximately 4 hours for a half-day tour).
This includes driving between fishing locations, shuttle time, and breaks.
The starting time and total duration may vary depending on your target species, the season, water conditions, and the guide's judgment to provide the best fishing experience.
We'll discuss the plan together before your tour.
If you would like to fish in the lower reaches of the river, where longer vehicle transfers are required, or if you wish to extend the trip to include early morning or evening fishing, additional charges may apply for fuel, guide accommodation, and extended guiding time.

Meeting Point
The meeting point may vary depending on your preferences, weather conditions, and river conditions. We will discuss the options with you and decide on the most suitable meeting point.
Free pick-up and drop-off are available from accommodations in Bifuka and Bifuka Station.
Pick-up and drop-off from Asahikawa Airport and other train stations are also available. Additional transportation costs, such as fuel expenses, will be quoted separately. Please contact us for details.

A personal flotation device (life jacket) will be provided by your guide and must be worn throughout the tour.
Please Read Before Joining the Oar Raft Fishing Tour
- We will do our very best to help you catch fish, but please understand that
catching fish cannot be guaranteed, even when fishing from an oar raft.
Fishing is part of the adventure, and every day on the river is different. - To protect the boat,
wading boots with metal studs or spikes are strictly prohibited. - I am happy to offer advice on lure fishing.
However, I am still developing my fly fishing skills and continue to learn through practice and experience.
For this reason, I may not be able to provide detailed instruction on fly fishing techniques. - I do not consider myself a professional fishing instructor.
My goal is to share a memorable day on the river, exploring beautiful water together, discussing where fish might be holding, trying different approaches, and enjoying the experience of fishing in Hokkaido's great wilderness.
Fishing Regulations
Please use single barbless hooks only.
Barbless hooks help minimize damage to fish and make catch-and-release safer.
Because you will be casting in the limited space of an oar raft, hooks may accidentally catch the guide or other guests.
For everyone's safety, barbless hooks are mandatory.
Treble hooks are not permitted.
Please note that accidents involving barbed hooks have occurred in the past.
In one case, a hook became deeply embedded in a guest's finger and required immediate hospital treatment.
If a barbed hook becomes embedded in either a guest or the guide,
the tour will be terminated immediately and we will go directly to the nearest hospital.
